1993 Lincoln Mark VIII review from North America
"I loved this car, but it has a lot of common problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The following are very common problems with the '93 Mark 8...
First time the air suspension blew ($1000)
Transmission had trouble shifting between 2nd and 3rd. Improved, but never fixed ($200)
Brake rotors warped from the weight of the car on lower quality rotors ($400)
Radiator blew ($600)
Air suspension failed again. (Quoted at $2,500).
General comments?
Let me say that I really enjoyed many aspects of my Mark 8, but there is a reason you can buy one so cheap.
Let me say that the car DOES indeed have three things... comfort, power, and luxury in excess.
For these reasons, it actually has a very strong following. Which in-turn makes it easier to diagnose the host of common problems that you will experience sooner or later... usually sooner.
Now if you have around $7,000 to $8,000... you can buy the car for $3,000... put $4,000 to $5000 into it and have a really great cruiser.
But otherwise - just stay away!
