2005 Holden Astra Convertible review from Australia and New Zealand

Engine ran out of oil 7000km - 18000km, & engine fixed at 20000km & ran out of oil again at 27000km.

Computer.

Roof; 12 months to replace the whole thing - never worked properly & took me getting Consumer Affairs involved to replace it; it costs $23000.00 to replace a roof.

Cruise control.

Paintwork.

Ignition - still faulty after being replaced.

Window motor.

Window mechanism.

Gearbox - low on oil, but cannot get into gear when it is cold; reverse & 2nd gear are the worst.

Roof computer.

Vinyl strip at front coming off.

Vinyl lining under roof coming off.

Cigarette lighter.

Stereo re-earthed.

Excessive black brake dust off the wheels.

Brakes squeak.

Car shudders.

Shocks squeak.

Drivers seat repaired.

Wear mark on original roof from a plate coming loose in the roof cavity.

Excessive road noise since the new roof; have to have the stereo up fully when on the freeway; it's actually quieter with the roof down.

Off the road every month getting repaired;

over $38000.00 has been spent fixing it, & it's going off the road again next week to get the engine, gearbox, cigarette lighter, more paintwork & black strips fixed again.

My KIA Spectra was a nicer car to drive & smoother on the road; I regret getting rid of it now.

Holden h/o keep telling me they have finally fixed everything on it. I told them I hate the car & want it replaced, to which I was told if I hate the car that much I should sell it & cut my losses.

Service Dept call it the Friday car, & told me about another Astra owner who got sick of his car & its problems who used a broker to get a better resale on it, & that I should use him to sell it.
