1994 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi 16v review from UK and Ireland

OK, this is over 6 1/2 years:

Rear exhaust, rear brake, apportioning valve and front paintwork (too thin) all corrected under warranty.

Since then, cambelt tensioner pulley noisy plus all the usual Cavalier traits: weaping water pump, heater panel bulb, outside temp probe & removable Grundig radio panel. Interestingly the replacement bits for many of these known weak points have now lasted years longer than the originals, have Vauxhall modified the designs?

More recently the exhaust again, plus the middle section and just last week the electric aerial finally gave up the ghost despite lots of TLC over the years. Still, £50 to replace rather than the £130 they used to charge!

Great car! The engine is one of the last non Ecotec ones with 150bhp and LOADS of torque. You can just cruise so easily in this car but burn it up if the mood takes you. Dropping reps in their new Mondeo's is a speciality.

Handling is a bit (lot?) understeery but nice sticky Yoko's (205/55 series) keep it reasonable.

Fuel economy is very good (38mpg), never broken down and body work is very fit for the mileage. Intend to keep it to 150k...
