2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS review from North America

When I purchased the car it had a few minor problems such as the rear cup holders being broken, the plastic handle for the drivers side seat adjustment missing and the drivers pod switch for the right rear window not operating correctly (would put window up, but not down).

Only major problem (check engine light was on) was the fuel pump, had it replaced by dealer before signing for car. Otherwise everything runs great.

Great SUV, can fit just about anything you could fit in a pick-up in it and it runs great. I have the tow package on mine so the ride is a bit rough due to stiffened shocks, but I will probably be replacing those with some smoother offroaders.

Only thing I really don't like is the part-time 4WD, you have to watch it. Running the 4WD on pavement can potentially damage your drive train (transfer case most likely) and will definitely wear your tires down due to the way it operates. (Locks both axles in so they must spin at the same RPM, will either cause tires to slip and wear more and will lock transfer case and potentially damage it and possible other components.) Then again, I've heard of people driving over 100k miles with 4WD on and not experiencing any problem.

Engine does not get along great with this new E10 gas, if you let the SUV sit for a while you may get a check engine light for emissions reasons and the Ethanol settled to the bottom of the tank. Driving a few miles will turn the light off.

Overall a great SUV, couldn't ask for better, especially when I got it 4k under book value.
