1988 Plymouth Voyager SE review from North America

"Comfortable, Easy to Drive With A lot of Power"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Needed a computer when I first bought it.

Speedometer never worked.

Hood Latch broke.

High Beams never worked.

Engine Idled at 3,000 Rpm, caused the motor mounts to loosen and make a loud clunk when put into gear.

Motor Mounts broke and the engine and tranny fell on the axle.

General comments?

This was a great powerful car before it died. I bought it from a friend while on vacation to drive 300 miles back home. When I first had the computer replaced it ran great and was it great condition. That summer we went back and forth from there 6 times. While driving on the interstate

we simple just followed the fasts car and then became the fasts car. I have no clue how fast we were going, but the tachometer was at 4,000rpm. The van had amazing power when passing a car at 5,000rpm ever one was pulled back in the seats.

A couple months after I've owned the van the engine starts idling a high speeds. It starts at 1,500rpm then 2,000 then up to 3,000. After driving like this for a few months it made a very loud clunking sound when changing gears. One time at the gas station I put it in Drive and let off the brake and peeled almost into a busy highway. I drove it very unsafely all winter and then it started having more problems. We were on our way back from a 40 mile trip and I noticed one of my gauges was jumping around. Later that day I was coming home from town and seen the oil pressure gauge fly over in the red then go back. I didn't know what to do so I drove all the way home slow on the shoulder. I let my kids use it to bring in wood across the yard and just about when there done they say there was a crunching noise then a big clunk. The engine fell onto the axel and the drive shaft shoot out some pieces.

Every thing could have been avoided, but my boyfriend (at the time) was to much of an a*hole to do it. I loaded it full of his crap and had it towed over to his mothers house were he was living. I heard he sold it for $100 but it was dead and not worth fixing.
