2006 Toyota Corolla S review from North America

Windshield began buzzing loudly and was repaired by Toyota dealership by resealing windshield.

Middle dash console compartment door broke and would not shut. Was also repaired by Toyota dealership with replacement.

Both repairs were covered by warranty.

No other problems since.

This car gets amazing gas mileage. The first large trip that I made with it was from the East coast of Texas to Southwest New Mexico and did it with one tank of gas at a MPG of 41+.

It has a very comfortable ride for most cars in its class and everything in the car is well placed and easy to use and get to.

The car handles nicely in sharp curves and makes you feel safe in abrupt maneuvers... as was found out trying to avoid New Mexico and Texas deer.

Road noise in the Corolla is a little boomy, but not near as loud as the 2001 Hyundai Accent previously owned.

Trunk space is quite large for a car in this class and easily holds baggage enough for a families extended vacation.

The exterior of the Corolla S is quite sporty with its stock ground effects and optional chrome tip exhaust. However, for being the top of the line Corolla, the S edition does not come with chrome or aluminium wheels, but instead came with caps. Definitely a negative in my book in comparison with the top of the line Civic and Mazda3.

The engine in the Corolla S is quite peppy and has no problem passing traffic on the highway.

For those who require a little more power out of their 2006 Toyota Corolla and even a little more gas mileage, there are a few inexpensive mods that can be achieved that will not void warranty of the vehicle.

I personally installed a ram air intake and also increased the exhaust piping size to 2.5" behind the cat converter with a high flow muffler, of which cost me a little over $200 total for all mods. I am now achieving 46 MPG average.

With Toyota's record of 200,000+ mile cars, the 2006 Toyota Corolla is a well worth your buck car. You will not regret purchasing this car. I don't regret purchasing it and I am definitely a Toyota man from now on.
