2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS review from North America
"I'm not going to buy another one of these cars"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car is a big disappointment. When I got it in 2003 it had 50,000 miles on it and it ran fine for a few years.
I had the brakes changed a few times and always had the oil changed every 3000 or so miles. I've had it tuned up a few times as well. But now I have had it 4 years and there's a lot of problems with it.
I had a new fuel line put in a few months ago and now the transmission is stuttering between 0-40 mph as if it's "hunting" for gears. The shop I always go to said they couldn't find anything wrong with it.
Then by the time I took it to the second shop, my car had denied to start a few times after I'd driven it for the first time in the day. I had to have my car towed from work almost every week this summer. It had something to do with the anti-theft system and electricals on the car, which now had gotten fixed so I could start my car.
They said I should just get a new car because it's just a bunch a little things that are gonna snowball, but I'm a student and don't have the money for that right now.
Then I took it to a transmission shop and they wanted $500 just to take it out and look at it, and then from there it may be $2300-$3000 to fix! I don't know what I'm gonna do.
