1999 Hyundai Elantra GL review from North America

Rusting around rear doors just after the 30000 bumper-to-bumper part of the warranty ran out.

Timing belts needed replacing at about 50000 to 60000 miles.

Driver front window motor stopped working.

On a road trip, all hoses blew out and needed replacing.

While commuting to work, the car stopped for no reason. In other words, it was like someone turned a light switch off. While the car was still moving, the computer went dead, the dashboard lights were dead and the engine went dead all in an instant. I pulled off the road and waited a few minutes and tried to start the car, but all it did was run for a minute and then shut off again. After speaking with one of the techs at my local dealer, he told me I probably used bad gas and that moisture more than likely caused the problem. That seemed lame, but after putting some drygas into my tank I haven't had that problem again, YET.

Passenger rear window motor stopped working.

I haven't seen much problem with my car until the last 6 months. In general, I like my car because it surprisingly can haul a lot of stuff with the 40/60 split back seat and because I don't get killed at the gas tank.

My goal is to keep it until it hits at least 200,000 miles.

I've come to website to find some more economical way to fix my older model Hyundai.
