1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"This car was good for the first 100,000 miles, but after that it should have been pushed off a cliff"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Okay, my mom bought this car when I was in 7th grade and we've had it ever since. I was sharing a 91 toyota Camry with my 2 other siblings, then my parents bought 2 new cars and gave us their old ones. I got the "newer" Pontiac with 109,000+ miles for my freshman year of college. So, I've had the car for 5 weeks and only driven it 2x. It has gone through 2 alternators, a transmission, a coil, and now the mechanic doesn't know why it's not running. I got a tune up about 2 days ago praying that it would help it stop missing. but that wasn't the case. I got the car home and it died in the driveway. the check engine light is constantly on, the ABS light stays on, and the TRAC light is constantly blinking. I'm about to give up on the car and send it to the scrap heap.
General comments?
It handles really nice now that I have new ball joints! I wish the steering was just a little tighter. The cabin is a nice shade of tan to offset the cherry red exterior. if anyone has one of these cars, you'll know that the hubcaps (if you have them) sound HORRIBLE! I really suggest getting rims. I live in a nice city that has a LOT of brick roads and you can hear my car from a mile away.
