1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT review from North America
"If you don't have a lot of money, don't buy one"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel line replaced at 112k.
Washer motor went out, not sure when though.
1st to 2nd gear very weak.
CD player skips when cold or humid.
Brakes replaced at 113k.
Transmission needs replacing- slips at 40 MPH or higher. If I had noticed the transmission problem when I test drove it, I wouldn't have bought it. This vehicle hasn't left town since I bought it. I am the second owner, and I believe the first might have been towing with it wrong, it does have a trailer hitch on it.
Muffler replaced at 115k, after it fell off while driving, rusted out completely.
Back window in tailgate rattles uncontrollably.
And the worst thing of all- the STUPID "Service engine soon" light- it NEVER GOES OFF.
General comments?
Well, let me see. Fuel line was replaced immediately after I bought it, it leaked so bad I had complaints from co-workers and customers.
Washer motor suddenly stopped working, not sure when that happened though. Wipers work, but no washer fluid.
No get up and go until it gets to 25 MPH... pretty annoying at stop lights.
Not so important, but I have to mention- CD player skips like mad when it's cold or humid.
Normal maintenance, front brakes replaced at 113k. My Blazer was used for my job, so this was expected.
Back window in liftgate hard to open when it's wet. Also it squeaks like crazy.
I have something leaking from underneath it, not sure what it is as of yet, this just started since parking in the garage in my new place.
OK, now for the most annoying thing of all. This Blazer I bought used in April of 2007. At that time, soon after I bought it, I noticed the "service engine soon" light would come on for a few hours at a time, and then shut off. When I did research about this, I was told it was normal for this vehicle, and the car was fine. So, when this happened again recently, I kept driving it figuring this was the case once again. Well, not so much... last night, on my way back from a very short trip across town, this same llight started blinking, and the car ran pretty roughly. Got it back to my garage, and now I'm afraid to drive it. Boyfriend drove it today to see if the light would blink again, and it did. So now, I have a 3 year note on a car I cannot drive.
There are some good things I love about this Blazer though. It has TONS of room. I think the sound system is great, considering it's factory. I love the way it handles, considering that it's a truck basically. It rides better than my S10. I have not had a chance to drive it in the snow yet, so I'm unsure about winter use. Leather has held up very well, considering it's 12 years old.
If ANYONE can tell me what might be wrong, please email me at brendadei@yahoo.com. I am at my wit's end, considering I am also an owner of a 1999 Chevy S10 ZR2 pickup that it also having problems. PLEASE HELP!!!
