2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS review from North America

Interiors smelling like CAYONS...

After finding this web site I emailed my girl friend and told her about the smell in my car that she had mentioned. I told her about all the great responses on this web site. She told me to post this to the site also. (I little back ground on her. She is 39 years old 5' ft 7" 118 lbs and is big kid at heart with a PHD) She said that she loves the smell and every time she is in the car with me she can only think of one thing. Well without totally spelling it out I give her what she wants. That makes her happy. You know that she is very good, never making a mess, ever! Before I started to go out with her I've done very well with that car.

Long story short, the smell doesn't bother me at all ;)

OK call me crazy, but I was online doing a little research before I was going to replace my broke mirror. I found this article on Volkswagen Jetta or Germany cars interiors smelling like CAYONS. Some of you have made the comment about the smell and some have been there when others did. I WAS GETTING A COMPLEX! lol I really don't smell it... I guess I am so used to it that it doesn't bother me at all.

BUT- Apparently it is an inerrant problem with Volkswagens. I read most of the comments in the link that I forward it to you. In a nut shell, the smell is coming from the products used in the interior. Most likely the rust inhibitor that Volkswagen / Audi uses.

For the record. I love my car.. It's getting older now, but it is still a lot of fun to drive. If you have ever driven a VW you know what I mean.
