1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America
"I love it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first drove the jeep it had a slight sway to it so I knew right away that the suspension was worn out so I replaced the shocks, sway bar bushings, strut links and bushings, Front and rear track bar, tie-Rod ends and got new tires along with a wheel balance and alignment and it was a completely different Jeep.
Other problems at around 122000, the front drivers side brake caliber was sticking making a nice burning smell so I replaced the pads calibers and routers in the front and its been fine since The dope who had the jeep before me, but the pads on the wrong side which I think contributed to it.
The A/C never worked when I got it so I went to walmart and got some R-134 refrigerant in a can and charged her up ans its been working fine since. I still thing the compressor clutch needs to be replaced because it struggles on hot days.
The Linkage for the drivers side mirror broke so the mirror moves up and down in the wind.
Hinges are worn out on the drivers side door
Gas lifters on the tail gate sorta work depending on the temperature out side.
Some of the instrument panel is burnt out, but no big deal the dash is very easy to take apart.
The Transmission was slipping very badly, but when I drove her to the shop in Belmont, MA and had the guy drive it it gave him no problems so I was a little pissed off, but when I drive her home she was fine and has been fine ever since. I still need to change the fluid and I still think the tranny is going to have to be replaced at some point, but not right now.
When you look at this viechle you would probably say wow no rust and it's a 94 jeez. but it you pop off the plastic rocker panel cover you will find an different story the entire bottom of the rocker panels is all rotted out on both sides. but no big deal I got some new rocker panel skins that will got over the existing ones.
General comments?
Fun to Drive
An Absolute animal off road can't seem to get her stuck
i love the Growl of the 318 V8 great get up and go on the highway or for pulling stuff with its 300 ft-lbs torque its worth getting the V8 cause the gas mileage is the same
The leather seats are extremely comfortable and in very nice shape for 13 years old just a few wear marks on the drivers side no tares.
The Full Time Transfer case is awesome I love the low range it great for gettin out of mud holes of going up or down steep rocky hills, most AWD SUV's don't have this, but the Jeep Grand Cherokee
The paint looks great for a ungaraged 94 when you wash it of wax it the car looks brand new.
The Jeep gets impressive fuel economy
Around town I get 15-17 highway 18-20
far better than what I expected it to get
The jeep really hold its ground around turns or sudden maneuvers.
The plastic on this jeep has no oxidation or cracking what so ever and look great if you use Mother Back to Black.
The Fog lights look cool on the grille
The jeep has an over head console for my sun glasses and display the compass an theromometer, trip, AVG Fuel economy, Instant Economy, distance to empty, Driving time.
This is one loaded jeep
ad I will never get rid of it ill keep her going until I die I am emotionally attached to this car.
