2005 Mercedes-Benz Actros 480 480 hp diesel from Germany
Summary:
Lack of power when fully loaded
Faults:
Blown turbo hose 2x.
New transmission.
General Comments:
Roomy cabin with good interior design is the place to be. Better cabin than on my previous trucks.
My only complaint is bloody transmission (too slow shifting, hard clutch), and serious lack of power when fully loaded. My previous DAF with the same amount of horse powers did much better. When uphill I need to change gear into 5th, 8th gear is not powerful enough.
My associate drives a Scania with the 480hp, and the truck has a lot more power than my Actros, especially when going uphill.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Yeah Right. I'm sick of it, but it is my job.

The Actros is a semi truck. 180k km per year is actually not that much for a semi driver.

The Actros may not be as remarkably reliable as the old Kurzhauber L-series, but in my opinion, it's one of the best trucks available today, along with Volvo and Scania.
The one in this review is from 2005, but the Actros models from the third to the fifth generation, that is, from 2007 to the present, have improved enormously in both comfort and reliability.

You must love driving - 180000km p.a. (about 113000 miles per year).
