2000 Nissan Maxima GLE review from North America
"Reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Service Engine Soon light is displayed.
General comments?
I've had this car for about a year with 105,000 km and now the Service Engine light has come on my dash with about 125,000 km. At first I was wondering if I needed to do a tune up as I didn't get one when I purchased the car from a used dealership.
I went to this forum and found that alot of people were having the same problems and that they disconnected the (-) battery terminal for about 6-7 minutes and the problem was resolved. I did that and it didn't work. I tried doing it again and opening the fuel cap fully and closing it with a number of clicking sounds once I heard the amount of air that came out of the fuel lid area. Restarted and all was good, The engine light disappeared.
Now is the problem with the fuel cap or just that it needs to be tightened alot? I guess I'll find out soon enough
