1999 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"My friends call it, "The little truck that could, can, and will.""
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had to replace a couple of fuses, the turn-signal stalk and an assortment of parts in the front suspension. Nothing too serious or un-expected.
General comments?
I love my little truck. It's not the 500hp big-block rocket I got rid of, but it has yet to fail me. Even on the coldest mornings (-20f) it starts without a fuss. Best of all it gets amazing gas millage. Find me another truck that is this capable and still gets just shy of 30mpg; I'm all ears.
I have towed trailers weighing 7000 pounds (exceeding Ford's recommendations by half a ton) with no problem. I have driven through the worst weather northern Michigan can throw at me lacking 4-wheel drive or a locking rear-end with no problem.
For a totally stock truck, it has a really nice sound system.
If I didn't think it was 100% dependable I wouldn't let my girlfriend use it. If I didn't think it was 120% safe I wouldn't let my little sister ride shotgun.
