1995 Dodge Intrepid Base review from North America
"AWESOME!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My 1996 Dodge Intrepid was a rental car for roughly 7500 miles. It has the 3.5L 24v V6. I drove it 100 miles each direction to work for nearly six years.
I made regular oil changes and followed the maintenance guide in the owner's manual.
At 210,000 miles I had the transmission rebuilt.
At 311,000 miles the engine has developed a slight oil leak. I have not yet corrected the problem.
General comments?
The vehicle now has over 312,000 miles on it. I am debated the repairs because:
I paid $16,500 for the vehicle.
I've put $2,200 in maintenance including the transmission rebuild.
$16,500 + $2,200 = $18,700.
Current mileage: 312,017 miles
Mileage when purchased: 7,500 miles.
312,017 - 7,500 = 304,517 miles that I've driven.
$18,700 divided by 304, 517 miles = 6.1 cents per mile driven.
The car was quick for a family sedan and hugs the road tighter than grandma hugs at christmas. Comfortable interior and for 6.1 cents per mile... the value can't be beat!
