1978 Chrysler New Yorker 2 Door Leather Brougham Top review from North America

"Big beautiful elegant beast of the 70's"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car was slightly restored when I bought the car; just the paint and new genuine leather red top.

The lamp cover motor was removed, and the eye lids if you will, do not work right now. I just need the motor that moves them.

The car is pearl white with a cherry red leather that has 2 cracks in the back bench from the sun.

Not much has gone wrong with the cruiser other than a transmission replacement (don't go to an idiot to get your transmission flushed) I found a transmission from a Charger in upper Michigan and it was behind a 440 cubic inch with unknown mileage.

The transmission is in the car and shifts like it was brand new.

Since I owned the car I put 22 inch elite barb rims with Pirelli tires, and it rides like the stock wheels and tires were on it. The rear end was pumped up using a compressor the rear shocks are air from factory, for the most part big pot holes jar the steering wheel.

I installed Borla 2.5 inch dual exhausts, new water pump, fuel pump, alternator, A/C compressor and wiring in the engine compartment.

General comments?

The car is a street rumbler; it turns heads everywhere, and since it is a 2 door, everyone asks what the hell it is and what era it is from.

In the summer I smash the gas and rumble the streets of my town in Michigan.

I will die with this car. It is a gas crushing machine, but worth every penny in comfort.
