2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 review from North America
"Buy a ford"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Voltage drain that dealer is unable to locate. Battery goes dead if not started for a period of time. Happened since day 1, They told me yes there is a drain on battery
but we can't find it.
Power window motors both had to be replaced $250 each even though they know it's a problem.
Rotors are rusted all around another know problem.
4 wheel drive sometimes malfunctions and stops working, next time you start it everything is fine again.
Instrument cluster stops working, shut off, let sit for awhile then it works again.
General comments?
I bought this to replace a 2000 GMC Sonoma that was a lemon from day 1. new transmission 500 miles, 3 oil leaks, etc. I got rid of that truck while it was still under warranty because they stated that they would fix things under warranty, but after that I was on my own. (I wrote Chevy to see if they would extend warranty because of all the problems.) I gave them another chance and I'm sorry I did.
Poor gas mileage 10-11 city 12-14 highway.
On plus side. Very comfortable, powerful engine, rides smooth for a truck.
