2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 review from North America
"A beast in the snow, beats my wifes HUMMER"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Overheating FIX!! Jan 2007 I had a overheat, replaced the thermostat which lasted a week, replaced with a fail safe which lasted 2 days, replaced fan at suggestion of dealer, not the problem, flushed rad system, not the prob... long and short I spend over $800.00 including installing a new rad.
Finally I was checking the overflow to see if it was flowing in and out of rad. It was flowing to rad, but not back, it actually blew coolant around the cap, which lead most people to believe it was a cracked rad cap or area around cap. Bought new cap.
PISSED OFF, FRUSTRATED and very close to BURNING the Jeep when I took the hose off the plastic coolant tank to check the hose and the nipple where the hose attach's appeared to be closed, just a pin hole for coolant to flow. Drilled with a 3/16 bit.. PROBLEM SOLVED, not a hitch in almost a year. 50 cent solution.
I am not a mechanic and am amazed I figured this out, but it should be 1 of the 1st things to check, cheap fix and hopefully the extend of your aggravation.
BERN TOBIN..Newfoundland, Canada. berntobin@yahoo.com let me know if this is ur prob.
