1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK elegance review from Australia and New Zealand
"Well engineered and built"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing except intermittent alumination of aircon control.
General comments?
This is my wife's car.
Looks may be subjective, but most regard this a beautiful coupe superior in looks to the new model.
The handling is well tuned for a touring car, but it wouldn't beat my mini around the tight bends of our local hill-climb.
The two litre motor has its work cut out with only 100 kilowatts on board, but as we're regional theres not much stop start and this car is averaging 6.5/100kl cruising at 110 to 120 kph.
The cars perfect for its intended purpose and obviously better built than later model Merc's being delivered back on tray-back to our service centre.
Merc must lift its game in quality control or we will all be driving a Lexus or a classic Mercedes!
