1995 Lada Samara 1500i review from Sweden
"Keeps my bank account happy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The cooling water temperature gauge went mad, and I was told the injection on the car was overheating. The water temperature was perfect.
I replaced the timing belt as parts were falling off the belt (it was ten years old so I think that's no big deal).
New rear brakes were installed, although I think the old ones would have lasted another year. Parts are so very cheap for Ladas, so you never have to think about waiting until the last minute before replacing ageing parts.
General comments?
Everything is very basic. The design is terrible, but it is a very comfortable little car and it has proved to be very reliable.
Before I bought the car, I was afraid Russian fuel injection might not be very reliable, but there are old style American GM efi parts used for the injection, so everything works. If there would be problems, there are forums for Chevy owners on the web that can help you.
