1996 Daewoo Cielo GL review from Australia and New Zealand
"A heap of crap!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head gasket, machined at 152,000.
Driver's seat belt.
Front struts - 1.
Lower ball joints.
Steering tie rod ends.
Rear wheel cylinders.
Exhaust manifold warped.
Electronic ignition modulator.
Front disc rotors, undersize and warped.
I wouldn't recommend buying one of these from anyone unless very low mileage, then no fears of blown headgaskets.
I did all the maintenance work myself, and it still owes me $4000. Never again, I'm going back to a Ford.
General comments?
Purchased for $2000 Au's. Owes me $4000 with panel repairs and respray.
the only good thing in it is the air conditioner. The rest of it was and always will be a lemon.
Gutless up hills, even though it's a manual.
You can't really blame the car; it's a reject from that great car Holden built, the Camira, and the Camira is the worst built car ever, and the engine is very similar.
I would be very cautious before buying one; I would check the service history, low mileage, and history of head gasket replacement too.
I did all the maintenance work myself, and it still owes me $4000.
Also, I found it wasn't very fuel efficient. At $140 aus per litre I got about 180ks on $20 aus. I live in the country too.
A nice looking car, but overall a lemon. Too much mileage for a small car. Never again, I'm going back to a Ford.
