1987 Yugo 511 review from UK and Ireland
"Was car of the year in '69"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch cable snapped.
Rustyness.
Dodgy electrics.
Clutch at 75k.
Water pump.
Petrol pump.
Petrol sender unit.
Loose gear linkage underneath.
General comments?
Despite the above problems it really wasn't a bad car. It has a Fiat engine. It ran on unleaded, was quite fast considering (would cruise at 75). I used it every day and did over 30,000 miles in it. In the end it had a certain charm and was not too reliable, but it proved cheap to fix and parts are available.
If you can find a rust free one or a rare convertible, then it's not a bad car.
