2007 Acura CSX Premium review from North America
"This is the best small car that blends economy with luxury"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far.
General comments?
This is a very nice car! We set out to buy an economical car with some decent creature comforts. After doing a fair amount of research we narrowed things down to the Honda Civic EX, the Mazda3 GT and the Acura CSX Premium.
By the time we had test drove all the cars and spoke to the dealers we settled on the Acura because:
1) The fit and finish was the best on the Acura.
2) The Acura has the same reputation for reliability and durability as the Honda (after all it is one!).
3) The CSX has a 2 litre motor with 15 more hp than the Honda - I found the Honda a little too wimpy on the highway.
3) The Mazda3 is a very nice car with great features, but we did not have the same confidence in it after reading recent consumer reports.
4) The Acura dealer was by far the best to deal with - informative sales people and a willingness to make a deal that would put us in the Acura.
5) While the MSRP for the CSX Premium is about $4000 higher than the Civic EX the Acura dealer was prepared to bargain and the Honda dealer told us there was no room to negotiate in the MSRP. The Acura had.9% financing for 4 years vs the Honda at 3.9%. Our monthly financing costs are identical for the Acura as the Honda! Great deal in our opinion!
Anyway, we've had this car for just a week, but am very pleased with everything at this point. If you are thinking about a Honda Civic EX be sure to check out the Acura CSX before buying!
