1987 Holden Commodore VL review from Australia and New Zealand
"A sophisticated, smooth ride for a reasonable price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Loss of oil pressure at high RPM for extended periods (eg. traveling up hills) due to the oil pump struggling because of a clogged oil strainer from the sump.
Tappet replaced at approx 147,000km.
Distributor plug deteriorated.
General comments?
Very clean, quiet car with smooth acceleration and good throttle response past 70km/h.
Good for cruising on long trips with reasonable fuel economy.
Stock suspension is very rough.
Possible modifications for better response: new air filter, 2.5in exhaust and Fueltronics chip?
