2001 Saturn L300 review from North America
"An incredible disappointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
SES light revealed itself the first week of ownership.
1 tire failure first month of ownership.
Main engine computer replaced.
Coolant leak at intake manifold.
Power Steering pump leak.
Battery positive cable leak.
Engine shut down once at freeway speed.
Hard shifting at random times.
Excessive road noise.
Horn activated on its own and wouldn't shut off.
Windshield washer quit working.
General comments?
A mechanically unreliable vehicle. The sum of the parts is of less value than the parts themselves.
Our older non-US made car has had zero defects during the time we've owned this Saturn L300. So this past weekend we traded the Saturn in for a non-US made car. The dealer gave us $1500 less than blue book value for the Saturn on trade-in. All things considered, we knew it would cost more to keep and maintain the Saturn L300 than to let it go for a pittance of what we paid for it. No more Saturns for this family!
Interior (leather) was comfortable.
