1992 Dodge D150 review from North America
"Bulletproof truck that will last"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Interior of the car was taken out by the previous owner. There is no carpet or headliner.
Somehow I managed to throw a break shoe on the front brakes; it's a mystery. Easily fixed.
Paint was badly flaking when purchased. I repainted myself.
Tires, oil, and other general maintenance things.
General comments?
I purchased this truck to move myself and my wife down to Florida. When I bought it I thought I'll get down there, then sell it and get something cheaper.
Now I'm having serious second thoughts.
This truck hauls like nothing else I've driven. You can't break it, and you can't screw it up short of trying or getting into an accident.
The general maintenance on it is easy; the high ground clearance makes it simple to roll underneath and change the oil and filter. The engine compartment is as spacious as the 1970's trucks I'd been driving up until I bought this one.
The 318 V-8 makes the truck a powerful contender for horsepower and torque, but also hurts my wallet every time I fill up the tank. I suppose there is a tradeoff there that I find comfortable.
Although the carpet and headliner are gone, the bench seat in this one is surprisingly comfortable. I really don't think I'll be getting rid of it as I've driven other cars and trucks since, but nothing is quite as comfortable or as spacious as this truck has been.
I have to agree that this truck might end up becoming a classic, and most will live to see it in decent condition.
