1987 Ford Thunderbird LX review from North America
"Powerfull, mean and beautiful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The digital dash went blank. I am currently in the process or fixing it.
The upper rad hose blew after starting the car in minus 50 weather.
I replaced the entire exhaust including the headers. there was nothing wrong with the original exhaust, but I wanted a meaner sound with more power.
I replaced the head gasket and spacer shim at 189000 kms.
General comments?
She does not burn any oil or leak at all. the gears do not slip and she runs smoothly and idles great. all the power options work with the acception of the digital dash that I am working on. this mean machine has a lot of power off the line. she pulls me into the seats up to about 50-60 kms. the fun part is when these boys with their little supped up 4 cylinders pull up beside you and egg you on. they don't expect my car to squack rubber and take off leaving them behind. this car reminds me of the movie "torque" it is truly a powerful engine and a comfy ride. I love it and am soon to be doing a full body tune up.
