2004 BMW X3 review from North America

"A good looking, great handling, safe, drives like a bmw suv"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing.

General comments?

This car is a beauty. There are some reviews out there which are unfavourable. I am unsure why. Mine, a 3.0, has a ton of power, accelerates briskly from standing and goes very well indeed on the highway if you ask it to. It has the best handling of any SUV, ties with the porsche cayenne for the best braking (both have sports car like stopping power with garbage can lid sized rotors and beefy calipers) and some of the best acceleration. The interior seats are comfortable, nice to look at, and the wood trimmed accents give the interior a classy look and feel. The premium harmon kardon stereo sounds fabulous, with balanced base response from two sub woofers. The panoramic moon roof is quite something, almost converting the interior of the vehicle into a covertible when fully retracted. The all wheel drive system is second to none and provides a ton of grip and confidence in less than perfect weather conditions. The standard 17 inch rims look great. There have been some reviews (which all relate to the sports suspension model) critical of a harsh ride. This car does not have a harsh ride. It is a firm ride, as one would expect from an suv that handles like a sports sedan - it really drives like a bmw should. You can't have the best handling in the class and a cushy lexus like suspension - you get one or the other. If cushy is your thing, then get a lexus. If you want a driving machine, get this.
