1999 Chevrolet Malibu LS review from North America
"Not very reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Pass lock system acting up. I am sure you made some sort of research as to the 10 minute delay that occurs once and a while. Car won't start. As you read it's the pass lock system which doesn't recongnize the key inserted in the ignition. You can spend hundreds of hared earned dollars to remedy a very simple solution. Remove the plastic cover over the radio. Remove the radio without unpluging it. You will see a cluster of larger gauge wires wraped in cheap electrical tape. In behind the ignition switch are three smaller gauge wires seperate from the larger ones wraped in tape as well. These wires are black-white-yellow. Start your car and while the motor is running cut the yellow wire. If the vehicle doesn't stall you have successfully tricked the computer. The computer now will accept your key and start your car every time. The theft system red light will remain on forever. So what, put a small piece of blk tape on the instrument panel or take it apart and remove the bulb. This procedure works. All the best.
General comments?
The GM dealer couldn't fix the problem.
