1987 Mazda B2200 review from North America
"This truck has small problems, but it keeps on ticking and that's what really matters to me"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The engine has blow-by and seems to push oil out at highway speeds if I go fast for extended periods, best as a city truck, as it dosn't do that when I stay below 100kms hr.
The truck has manual steering, which is good for fuel economy because the engine dosn't have the added work of spinning a power steering pump.
The brakes are a bit soft and I think its going to need new brake pads up front because it just feels like it does.
The box has light rust along the lower quarter panels but was painted white by the previous owners.
Great shape for being 19 years old and is extremely dependable, always gets me where I want to go and being so old it does a better job than newer vehicles.
General comments?
I have owned an 88 and it was an ext-cab as well.
I prefer the 5 speed, as it can lack power, but a quick downshift cures any lag going uphill.
You really can't find such a dependable truck for as cheap as they sell these for.
