1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z-24 review from North America
"Geat car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought the car new (convertible / black / gray interior) and other than the A/C, I have only had minor issues over the years like an alternator, fuel pump, water pump, but I consider all of it maitenance.
My only real problem is that I started noticing that the electric cooling fan would not come at the same temperature as before and was causing the car to run hot. I replaced the thermostat but that did not make a difference; I took it to a shop twice because it smelled of coolant and was told there was nothing wrong with it. Finally, I started it and let it sit in the driveway to check for myself and it ran for about 10 minutes before the fan came on. By that time some cooland had leaked out; I figured that there has to be some sensor that activates the fan. The problem is that I bought it but don't have a clue where it goes. Any suggestions?
General comments?
I love the sound of the V-6 with the sport-tuned muffler and the induction sound when it is floored. May not be the fastest by today's stanadrds but a lot of fun.
