2003 Renault Clio 1.4 review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Toxic fumes hazard lights problem in a Clio 1.4 plate 53.
2 weeks ago the light of the Toxic Fumes went on continuously. After reading the Renault book, I took the car to the official Renault garage and after 3 hours of computer and wiring checking, they ve “concluded" that there was a fault in one relay (~£15) because of massive corrosion. Total bill after labor, parts and VAT = £246
Yesterday, after making only 40 miles from the first "visit" to the garage, the same light started to flash again (this time intermittently), the car started to rev very low when idle, jerking most of the time, and making a noise like misfiring one piston. Took the car today to the garage again and they've just called me to say that the wiring loom need to be replaced. In other words ==> my bill now is £345 which makes a total of £600 (so far) in only a couple of weeks. My concern is that this is not going to solve the problem, as this seems to be a common problem with the Clio and I will end up again in the garage paying again for a problem in the car that nobody knows well how to solve... We ll see how this story continues
General comments?
It is historic that Renault cars are "bewitched". The tradition is still well preserved...
