1998 Ford Expedition Edie Bauer review from North America

Very few problems with this truck. I have replaced three coil packs and have replaced important suspension components.

I bought this truck needing a vehicle to tow my 12x14 work trailer. I loved the ride from the minute I got into it and have been happy with ever since. It can pull my trailer with more than a ton of roofing shingles in it and it has never denied me the power I have asked for. The Triton 5.4 V8 is a great workhorse.

I do have to mention that Ford made the 1999 to feel and ride like a truck; not like the newer model Expedition. My wife and I like to rent vehicles before we buy; we call the local rental agencies and ask if they can get the model we are looking for. This is much better than taking dealer rides out for several reasons: 1. dealers do not like to let their vehicles go for more than a little while 2. We have the piece of mind that if something were to happen to it the damage would be covered and 3. there is no sales pressure. We found the newer models to be a little soft and designed to ride more like a large car than a truck.

Be forewarned that if you do not have it in your budget to fix a large SUV then you should not buy one. Larger vehicles tend to be more to fix and require maintenance more often. So, if you are complaining about your large truck upkeep you need to ask yourself if you really NEED an SUV.

The Ford Expedition is one awesome truck and I would not give mine up for anything.
