1986 Nissan Pickup 1 ton review from North America
"This truck will never give up"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This truck has a different motor, but it's not the right one.
General comments?
This truck was first owned by my uncle in 1990, then it was owned by my 2 cousins, then my 3 brothers, and then me. Since my uncle it has gone through major abuse. It was totaled about 15 times or so, and I did sideswipe another car. Since I do a lot of offroading, I had gone through big piles of bushes.
The heaviest I ever loaded was a little less than 7,500 pounds. It went slow, but there were no problems and nothing broke down.
Same brakes and tires on this Nissan for 3 years now and still in great shape.
I jetski a lot on the ocean, and I drive all over along the Pacific coast with the jetski in the back, which is about I don't know 2,500 pounds. But I do this every weekend, and had never had not even one little problem.
Not that fast but that's OK. I just need it to get me to where I have to go and it does.
The chassis is perfect, but the body has lots of dents and couple of little smashes after being crashed too many times. You will not believe how much pieces this truck lost after all its hits. However, you will also not believe how much was put back together.
The original engine blew by one of my brothers, then he got it replaced with a Prelude engine with 300,000 miles on it. It only lasted me 15,000 then it blew the head gasket. I then replaced it with another engine off a 300zx with 75,000 miles. I did it myself and was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it would have went better if I had help.
With only about 5 months I the year already I put 50,000 miles on this truck.
I had this engine in this truck for 2 years already and just yesterday I have done my first oil change and drove it after that and did not notice anything different. No matter how old the oil is, it will keep the engine running; I just have to check that there is enough of it. This truck does burn a lot of oil.
Chevy, Dodge, and Ford trucks, especially with diesel engines, are not able to take heat like mine. My truck has much more muscle than a diesel.
