1977 Mazda 808 review from Australia and New Zealand
"This 808 was great"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really.
Needed a new radiator.
Had some rust but not that bad.
Front axle was a little bent from hiting the curb too many times.
Cracked windshield.
Needed new springs on all 4 wheels.
Clutch was good however the gear box was in bad shape.
Rattled at high speeds.
General comments?
I paid $400 for this Mazda 808. It was well taken car off and it belonged to a mechanic.
This is a car with a 1.6 motor, it was very powerful that it could of towed anything.
Handled great in bad weather, but if heavy on the pedal it can lose control very easily.
I bought this car at 24 years old and high mileage and the motor was still super and nice and powerful for the age.
Had no electrics but I cared less it was really really reliable and nothing changed, solid as a rock.
The only thing, this car should of had a 5 speed instead of 4 speed because at only 55mph the engine was doing 4500RPM which seemed bad for the engine to me.
This Mazda 808 was an excellent car and I miss it.
