1991 Lexus LS400 LS review from North America
"Best car made, smooth and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Bought this car new. Absolutely adore it, almost 17 years later. Can't afford the new LS at over $65,000 but may buy the IS.
Have replaced:
alternator,
battery,
power steering pump,
water pump.
Replaced the original soft tires at 25,000 but never as quiet with longer life tires.
Leather seats held up well in back as no one ever sat there. Front seat leather wore badly and I have covered.
Expensive to repair. May buy a Toyota Avalon next after reading comments posted here.
Absolutely terrible experiences with the Lexus dealers. Never had a loaner car, $27 to replace one light bulb. Never took it to the dealer after original 50,000 warranty expired. This is the number one reason I may have to go with Toyota and believe I can get the reliability at a lower price.
However, I love the car, smooth and beautiful after 300,000 miles driven.
