1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 review from North America
"GM spelled "Grand Am" wrong, it's 'J-U-N-K'"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I haven't even owned this car for 6 months and I already want to take it back. Soon after I got the car, I was having tie-rod problems, they kept stripping the threads out of the bolts that kept them in place.
Then it was the brakes, which I've replaced once already and I need to again soon. They creak more than my grandma's joints do.
I have more warning lights on my dash than an airport runway.
My front end recently went out, which includes the wheel bearings, which you can't just replace the wheel bearings but the entire hub assembly, which is VERY retarded of GM to do.
My back window motor went out, so that had to be replaced.
My fuel economy sux! I get maybe 16 miles to the gallon (I thought it was a 4 cylinder engine, not a V8). The fan settings 1 and 2 have never worked. Very disappointed in Pontiac...
General comments?
Handles extremely well, fun sporty car.
Plenty of power from the four.
Tranny is smooth and doesn't hunt gears.
Nice looking car.
