2006 Mercury Mountaineer Premier AWD review from North America
"Nice ride for a truck and nice for a family vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Just very few things, that were emission related.
General comments?
A wonderful 3rd row SUV choice. The visibility and seat comfort is just as good as a minivan that I use to have. The ride is amazing. Shocking is that my father-in-law can fit easily in the 3rd row and he is not a small guy. He has a Toyota Highlander.
This is the most luxurious vehicle we have ever had since we were born. I enjoy the inside the most; a quiet ride, the roominess, and all the features.
I don't mean to complain, because I was already aware when I got it, but I'm not happy with the gas mileage. I'm only getting the mpg that it says on the factory sticker. I got better with my 4.0 Explorer, so this one lets me down with gas mileage. I know that this was the choice I made, and I did it to myself, and now gas prices are really sky high, and I have to suffer.
I also do not like (the fact) when I have to make turns, it leans too much to the side.
This Mountaineer Premier AWD V8 is a wonderful vehicle for anyone who cares more about comfort and performance than gas mileage. I do like this thing, but if I got this Mountaineer into an accident and it were totaled, I would not get another one. Now there are better and more fuel efficient Ford SUV out there. Maybe I'd take a look at the Edge, or maybe that new Flex that's coming out soon.
