1980 BMW 5 Series 528i review from North America
"Get one you will not be sorry"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
With the age of the car just very little things
When I first got this car the heater did not work but I fixed it and after that it blew very hot air.
Many of the rubber parts of the car was ready to fall off (door seals, steering linkage, etc).
General comments?
Right before I got rid of it I put in new parts which probably can last another 30 years or so.
This 2.8 6 cylinder motor was the orignal and still had it running well when I sold it. This is an undefeatable engine. I hear that these engines can get up to 1,000,000 miles, but you have to stay on top of the fluids, You have to check them and maintain the car properly and it will get as far as you want it. I bought it for $1,200 and sold it for $2400 because I put some time and work on the car. I sold it because I needed a wagon and I got a BMW wagon now with the same engine.
