2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS review from North America
"OK, but I recommend a Toyota"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tires went bad at about 37,000 miles.
Rubber door seals were falling off.
General comments?
My wife also has a 2001 Sonata LX V6. I will never buy another Hyundai, no matter what. I had to have all 4 brand new tires at 37k. I tried calling Hyundai to get the car there. I kept leaving messages and they never responded, so I had to bring it someplace else.
What Hyundai also did was replace all 4 brake pads and rotors, when I only requested the front to be done, and no they did not charge me for the rear.
The most thing I got angry at was when the rubber door seals came off, and hanging the doors would not close right, and when bad weather happened (rain and snow) lots of water leaked in the car. I called and called Hyundai, left messages, and they never once responded, and I know this problem is supposed to be under the warranty.
However I did like the car, it drove good. I also did not have to spend a lot of money on repairs. But very poor Hyundai dealer service and the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty is BS. So I'm never buying a Hyundai again. Now I have a Toyota, which I should have bought in the first place.
