2006 Volkswagen Touran SE review from UK and Ireland

Wet carpets from rain water leaks - mushrooms growing under passenger seat! Carpets stink, dealer won't replace.

Brake judder and steering wobble. Dealer can't find any problem. Brake discs replaced, cured judder for a few weeks, now back again.

Central locking problems, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Dealer has not resolved after 4 tries.

Tailgate lock broke and door would not stay closed.

No spare wheel! Flat tyre could not be repaired with tin of goo supplied. Had to wait nearly 2 hours in the pouring rain by the side of the motorway with 3 cold wet kids for VW Assistance to turn up.

CD player works intermittently.

Drivers' window mechanism jammed and motor burned out.

Sunroof leaks.

It's OK for five people but cramped for seven. Back seats are awkward to get into except for children.

Not having a spare wheel is ridiculous. Who had this bright idea?

Build quality of this car is terrible; the body seems to fit where it touches, and rain water leaks are endemic.

Electrics are dodgy - there is no excuse for this, electric windows and CD players are not new - why don't they work properly?

Dealer service and response is dreadful. Unhelpful and downright rude on occasion.

This car is really let down by the build quality, which is terrible. The lack of help from the dealers has soured the experience even more.
