2002 Ford Explorer XLT review from North America
"I am not a happy owner"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 62300 miles the transmission failed. It is at the Ford dealer for the second time, work pending.
General comments?
Two weeks ago the O/D light started to flash soon after the check engine light came on. I drove 2 miles to a Ford dealer to have it looked at. $1000 + another $200 per phone call & five days later I have it back.
It drove great with its $1200 transmission repair -- for two days. Now lights flashing, hard shifting I take it back.
After an OOPS they gave me a 08 Focus to drive until they fix the problem. Two days later a phone call to tell me the $1200 repair has to be done over (no charge) + to keep a valve from flipping over, the transmission needs to be removed from its bell housing and put into a new one, and this will only cost me another $600!
