"If anybody wants the perfect small SUV, then I recommend the Amigo"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Emergency brake at 54,000.
Whole new exhaust at 52,000.
Water pump leaked at 56,000.
When I first bought it in 2006 it needed...
Battery terminals.
New clutch.
Brake calipers.
Spare tire.
Rear brake drums.
General comments?
This is a 1998 Isuzu Amigo 4x4 2.2 liter hardtop.
It has...
Chrome wheels.
A bar (that thing that protects the front grill.
Chrome side steps.
Off road tires.
Tinted windows.
I'm the 3rd owner of this car. As a matter of fact I bought this from eBay.
All my life I wanted a 4x4, and this Amigo is my first ever. I love it because it's fun and reliable.
It is nothing like driving a regular car, so it will take a while to get used to. It seems to handle well when it's went out and driving off road. I can't say how it is in the snow, because it never snows here. I also can't say how it is in 4wd mode, because I never had to use it.
It just has a plain interior, which means no power windows or such other gadgets. It's better off to have manual windows because you never have to worry when that power window motor dies. LOL!.
I have not really seen any of these Amigos out on the road. I don't know if it's because of high gas prices (however I still see a lot of big SUV's) or not that many people have any interest in them.
I do a lot of driving in the Amigo, and have no problems. It's well on dirt roads, and it's just as well on the motorway. I can get it up to 120mph with no problem at all.
