1987 Ford Taurus review from North America
"Resilient beyond your wildest dreams!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Due to the age of the vehicle when I began driving it naturally it had repairs coming. I replaced quite a few things but overall, the electrical system proved to be most irritating. However, getting a car battery at a place like WalMart makes it simple and inexpensive to repair when something goes wrong with the electrical system. I usually just brought it back and had it exchanged for another! :)
General comments?
I love this car! This was a very comfortable ride that I really hated to trade off. My Taurus, even after its 21st birthday, performed quite well in every possible way. I chose not to drive it over 55mph to avoid unnecessary strain on the older parts and I'm sure this made quite a positive difference in helping to maintain the vehicle.
With the help of a bi-annual waxing, the paint is still shiny even after 21 years. The interior is extremely durable and spacious. Because this model was so popular, parts of fairly easy to find.
If I wouldn’t have had to replace the brakes (again, this is a natural repair for a car this old) I would have kept this vehicle for many years to come. I love this vehicle!
