2000 Hyundai Elantra GLS Wagon review from North America
"Ok car, minimal maintenance, good value"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
One window switch failed, Dealer did replace under warranty. One window switch failed off warranty; independent repair shop fixed for about $125 US.
A squeak in the steering column has plagued us since the first oil change. Dealer said to make a two day appointment for the change out. We never found time, but just before the 5 year 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty ran out, we made the appointment. Dealer postponed our service appointment because they were having a sale and had too many new cars in line for dealer prep.
Two weeks later, when we came in for the postponed appointment, the dealer claimed the car was no longer under warranty. Hyundai USA was of little or NO help. We still have a squeak in the steering column 3 years later.
Now we have a wheel bearing going. Looking for reference on "Elantra Wheel Bearing" and found this site.
General comments?
We aren't raving about the car, BUT for what we paid it has been a very good value. Sure there are better cars for twice the $$, but are they really twice as good??
