"Off-Road Power"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Water Pump Failure.
Replaced Oil Pan.
Front Axle Failure.
Electrical Faults resulting in loss of radio power.
VIC Error - "CHECK OIL LEVEL" display despite oil level is adequate.
Death Wobble.
General comments?
Vehicle was acquired with 160000km's on it and was used for Search and Rescue operations. Despite the fact that it was taken into heavy bush and serious off-road conditions, the vehicle performed very well.
On-Road Performance: The Jeep is somewhat rough when travelling on-road. Road Noise is high and you can feel the road (that's every bump on the road). The 4WD (all-time) system makes for a less fuel economic drive.
Off-Road Performance: The Jeep is very good off-road. The all-time four wheel drive (Quadra-Drive I or NP/NV-249 transfer case) operates well. However, the LOW RANGE gearing does not lock the centre hub and operates the same as the all-time range by transferring power between front and rear axles.
Interior: The interior is a nice interior, the limited trim come with leather powered front driver & passenger seats with a Vehicle Information Control ("VIC").
Exterior: The Jeep has a very rugged look to it, and it has ground clearance required for good approach and departure angles. Without the front and rear bumper facia the approach/department angles increase dramatically however. The vehicle is lacking front & rear tow points.
Overall: This is a great vehicle for off-road usage and is very customizable.
