1995 Mercury Mystique GS review from North America

"It has treated me well"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I only had a tiny bit of problems with the car. I have gotten input that these cars are known for having the check engine light on and transmission problems.

The only biggest problem that I had, was last year the ABS light was on, thinking that the ABS system was bad and would be expensive. However it had nothing to do with the ABS. It turned out the left rear drum was cracked and the wheel cylinders were bad. It also turned out that the repair was at a reasonable price.

I also had to get the tie rod ends fixed so many times. It is because they were made very bad for this car.

General comments?

I drove this car for 10 years, and never had any massive repairs done yet. It already has 440,000 miles on it. Seems like the 2.0 Ztec 4 cylinder engines are more reliable than the 2.5 DOHC V6 engines.

Despite the age and miles, it has a lot of power, even though there is a little lag in the acceleration.

The car is low to the ground, and I'm a bit tall, so for me it's a pain in the neck getting in and out of the car, and it's harder in the back. Once I'm in the car I'm satisfied, so I still gave it an 8 rating in the comfort.

I always change the oil on time, check all fluids and tire pressure. If it wasn't for that being done, it probably would not have gotten this far.
