1986 Plymouth Reliant review from North America
"This car always got me to where I had to go, unlike some other cars"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Not a whole lot.
When brand new the ignition switch was bad, but the dealer replaced it for free because it was brand new.
Nothing serious had to be done in the first 8 years. When 8 years came, it had 200,000 miles on it and what had to be replaced was.
CV joint.
Control arm.
All 4 brakes (entire job on all 4) and all 4 new tires.
Transmission at 200,000 miles.
General comments?
Unfortunately we had to take it off the road because it was just too badly rusted that it was not safe to drive anymore. That car went 360,000. I had no other car in the world that went that far.
It always started right up especially in 20 below degree weather, and always drove without giving trouble.
This was probably the best car Chrysler has ever made, and it is a shame that I really don't see these cars on the road anymore.
