1994 Ford Escort LX review from UK and Ireland
"A heavy lump of crap"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
No acceleration when the car has been left to cool down for a few hours.
Driver's side door lock packed in (even though this is a newer lock than the rest).
Driver's side electric window came off the rail and broke the seal.
Uneven tire wear.
Drinks oil.
Every single exterior light went within a matter of weeks from purchase (as soon as I replaced one another went).
Rusting under the seals.
General comments?
All in all the Ford Escort is a nice looking car and the interior is spot on.
The handling is good and the fuel consumption is not excessive.
However, the performance compared to earlier models, is bad. It is slow and unresponsive.
Having taken my car to Ford for the acceleration problem they have changed various part which have not cured the fault and are now in the process of putting in another part which is going to cost me over £600.
Piece of advice: Don't buy from small time garages unless you know what you are doing!
I think the revised Mark V Escort was put together by monkeys.
